Employment

Canada ’s Employment and Labour Laws promote a fair, safe, healthy and productive work environment, which contributes to the social and economic well being of all Canadians.

The provinces and territories govern labour relations and employment. The federal government Department of Human Resources and Skills Development (HRSDC) is responsible for providing all Canadians with the tools they need to thrive and prosper in the workplace and in their community.

Canadian Employment Benefits

In Canada, every employer is responsible for making deductions from their employees pay and for remitting the deductions to the Canada Revenue Agency’s taxation department. These payroll deductions include personal income tax withholdings, employment insurance premiums (EI) and contributions to the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).

Canadian Labour Standards

There are many matters that employers have to deal with when managing employees, such as working hours, minimum hourly rate of pay, vacation time and termination of employees.
