Montréal Welcomes an International-Calibre Video Game Studio

Already a major world leader in interactive video gaming, the British corporation Eidos Interactive Ltd., continues to enjoy the success of its two-year old production studio in Montréal, alongside other world-class heavyweights such as Ubisoft, Electronic Arts, Autodesk (Softimage), among others.
"With a staff of about 220, Eidos-Montréal has earned itself a choice place in high end (AAA) video games for the Microsoft Xbox 260, Sony Play Station 2 and PC consoles," says Stéphane D'Astous, General Manager of Eidos-Montréal.
"We were confident that we would soon find in Montréal the talent required for this booming industry, and opted for extended production cycles (24-month minimum) to give our teams the time to develop superior-quality games. This vision has enabled us to fully train and cultivate our development teams, making this investment a formidable one."
When asked about Deus Ex 2-- the third instalment in Eidos's globally renowned and industry acclaimed Deus Ex series - D'Astous continues, "We have started up a second development team for this Montreal-based project, and more details will be announced shortly."
Alongside working with all three levels of government in Canada to access the most talented and cost-competitive workforce in the world, D'Astous points out that "the main advantages of Montréal are its excellent schools, its critical mass of employees working in multimedia, advantageous geo-cultural situation, and low operating costs."
Benefiting from this world-class environment that's rich on talent and innovation, Eidos has once again strengthened its positions in the ever-booming video gaming sector with the help of their Montréal studios.
